Non-voting member
a member of a Local Aboriginal Land Council who does not have voting rights in relation to that land council

Officer
a Board member of a Local Aboriginal Land Council or the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council
Pecuniary interest
generally, an interest that a person has in a matter because of a reasonable likelihood or expectation of appreciable financial gain or loss to the person or another person with whom the person is associated (spouse, de facto partner, relative, employer).
Pecuniary Interest and Disciplinary Tribunal
the Aboriginal Land Councils Pecuniary Interest and Disciplinary Tribunal established under Part 10, Division 3 of the Act.
Region
Schedule 5 of the Act specifies nine regions in New South Wales: Central, Central Coast, Northern, North Coast, North Western, South Coast, Sydney and Newcastle, Western and Wiradjuri. Each region is represented on NSWALC by a Councillor elected by the voting members of the land councils in their region.
Register of Aboriginal Land Claims
A register that the Registrar is required to keep and maintain that records all land claims
Register of Aboriginal Owners
A register that the Registrar is required to keep and maintain of all Aboriginal owners (see Aboriginal owners).
Registrar
The Registrar of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act appointed pursuant to section 164 of the Act
Regulations
Regulations made under the Act (see the Regulation)
Rules
The rules of an Aboriginal Land Council that apply to the Council by the operation of the Act (see Model rules)
Section 54(3)(c) notice
notice issued by the Registrar to confirm that a person is not a voting member of a Local Aboriginal Land Council
Section 56(5) notice
notice issued by the Registrar to confirm a land council member's voting area
the Act

the Regulation
Aboriginal Land Rights Regulation 2002. Regulations are delegated legislation supporting Acts of Parliament
Voting member
a member of a Local Aboriginal Land Council who has voting rights in relation to that land council
Voting rights
the right of a member to vote in elections held by the Local Aboriginal Land Council or to vote on matters decided by the land council
Zone office
The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council has four zone offices: Western, Northern, Eastern and Southern
